in Paris, France in the early 1900’s, Cassini
was known greatly for being the fashion designer who designed the wardrobe for
Mrs. Jacqueline Kennedy in the 60’s. Also known for being the designer for many
Hollywood films, Cassini was raised in Italy
and moved to the United
States in 1936. After gaining American
citizenship Cassini became a lieutenant in the American army during WWII.
Cassini took an interest in fashion after studying art at Giorgio de Chirico.
Fashion was his mother’s passion, and some say that he was following in her
footsteps when he became a designer. The fashion career train started when
Cassini took a job sketching for the courtier, Jean Patou. In the late 1930’s,
Cassini took a job as assistant to the costume designer Edith Head and
following this he took a job with Paramount Pictures in the early 1940’s.
Cassini aimed for international fame, and when he took a job working for Mrs.
Kennedy, his dreams could be a reality as he was now known as the designer for
the beautiful first lady. Having designed a reported 300 outfits for Mrs.
Kennedy, women all over from ages as young as 18 to as old as 80 tried to mimic
Cassini’s simple but elegant designs. Sadly, Cassini’s life came to an end at
the old age of , though the cause of death is unknown, but presumed to be old
age, We can at least be happy that Cassini led a long healthful life.
