Biography: Sandra was an American Film actress. Born with the name Alexandra Zuck and she was Ruthenian, which is an ethnic culture. By the time she was four, Sandra was a professional model and acted in many television commercials, she continued with her acting career in 1957's movie Until They Sail. Winning a 1958 Golden Globe Award for Most Promising Newcomer Sandra's career sky rocketed. Most famous for her wholesome girl roles in movies such as 1959's Imitation of Life, Gidget and A Summer Place. In the 1950's Sandra's persona became famous and inspired the role of Sandra Dee in the 1976 production, grease. In 1960 Sandra's marriage to singer and actor Bobby Darin helped keep her in the public eye and some say is what kept her career alive throughout their marriage.  During that time Sandra signed a contract with Universal Studios who attempted to develop and grow Sandra into a mature actress, and was for the most part successful. Sandra had earlier admitted to having anorexia, alcoholism, and depression and it is said that these all could have been caused with the sexual abuse from her stepfather as a child.

In 2001 she had been diagnosed with throat cancer and renal disease, and complications from her kidney disease and pneumonia led to her death in late February, 2005.
