Biography: Born early February in 1962 Steve Irwin is a world
redound T.V. Personality and conversationalist. Most known as “The crocodile
hunter” Steve was born to a his father, a wildlife expert and his mother a
wildlife rehabilitation specialist, owners and founders of the Queensland
Reptile and Fauna Park. At a young age Steve became involved in his parents
park, which overtime evolved into a strong interest in the animals he was
working with. When Steve was nine, after his father died he began handling
crocodiles, since his dad educated him at a young age. For Steve's twelfth
birthday he got a 12 foot long scrub python, so as you can tell reptiles became
his lifelong passion.
As Steve got older, he moved to Northern Queensland where
he became a crocodile trapper. His job was to remove the crocodiles from public
and populated areas where they where a danger to society, He did this work free
with the condition that he got to keep them in his park. For years the park was
a family business, until Steve's parents passed and then the park was left to
Steve. The park was renamed Australia Zoo, and Steve continued the business. In
the early 1990's Steve appeared on a television show, and after that he found
and married Terri Raines. The footage that was shot at their crocodile hunting
honeymoon became the first episode of
the hit series The crocodile Hunter, where Steve gained his fame.
Steve's tragic death raised many eyebrows all over the
world, at the memorial ceremony his daughter spoke, as well as some other
family members. Steve died while shooting a documentary called The Oceans
Deadliest, when bad weather stalled the shooting, Steve took the opportunity to
swim with the stingrays in shallower water. Steve accidentally boxed in a
stingray and was punctured through his chest to his heart when the stingray
through up it's stinger in defense. Spear fishermen Ben Cropp told press, “It
was a one in a million thing” and explained that the stingray was only trying
to defend. Steve will be remembered as an amazing conversationalist, father,
and husband.
