Biography: Author and Journalist Hunter Stockton Thompson was
most known for being the said creator of gonzo journalism. Gonzo journalism is
a style of reporting that combines both fiction and factual journalism. Gonzo
journalism is known for being a part of the New Journalism movement of the
1960s. Born and raised in Kentucky, Hunter was small town boy and attended a
boys only Louisville Male High School. Hunter's father died when he was
fourteen and was brought up by his mother after that. In 1956 hunter was
detained for committing robbery. Shortly
after, he became involved in the military and after that became sports writer
for the base's newspaper The Command Courier. He added to that by
writing in several local newspapers even though that was against military
regulations. Most of Hunter's most popular has been seen in Rolling Stone
Magazine.
Hunter committed suicide in 2005. Hunter himself called
it "fortified compound" and it was reported that he committed the
act not out of desperation, but as a
result of his very painful health conditions. It is said that the act was
probably well thought out. Although Hunter's family and friends all agreed that
it was clear that his death was a suicide, conspiracy therapist's had said they
believed Thompson may have been murdered as a result of having too much
information concerning the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
