Biography: American actress, Jane Wyatt was most well known
from her role in Frank Capra's 1936 hit movie Lost Horizon, as Ronald
Coleman's love interest. As far as her
television work, many people would say her most famous television role was as
the mother Margaret Anderson in 1950's television series Father knows best.
This comedic television show brought a lot of fame to Wyatt and may have been
on the list of her biggest roles. One of four siblings, Wyatt was raised in New
York City and in her lifetime has played in movie's like Lost Horizon to
television roles, like Amanda Grayson in Star Trek. Wyatt not only has talent and drive, but just
pure good blood. One of Wyatt's ancestors by the name of Rufus King, was a
signer of the U.S. Constitution and an ambassador. Also, Wyatt was a distant
cousin of Eleanor Roosevelt and of the well known poet Harry Crosby. Finally, she was in relation to Phillip
Livingston, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.
She left college after two years and continued on to the
apprentice school of Berkshire Playhouse at Stockbridge, Massachusetts where
she played an assortment of roles. Her
first of many Broadway roles was cast as the understudy of Rose Hobart in the
production of Trade Winds.
Jane passed
away in late October 2006, of natural causes. Reporters say she died peacefully
in her sleep in her Bel-Air home. Although she experienced health problems
after her stroke at age 85, her son told reporters that Jane's mind was still
sharp as ever.
